New $70 Million Residence Hall Breaks Ground on the UM Campus
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Along with University of Montana officials like President Seth Bodnar and Director of Housing John Nugent, the featured guests for the groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning of what will be the largest residence hall on campus were dozens of RA’s (Resident Advisors) who Bodnar pointed out in his opening remarks.
Bitterroot Women’s Club – more than a century of service
Bitterroot Women’s Club has been making a positive impact for the greater good since the first club in the Valley was established in 1903. By the mid 1900’s, nearly every town in the Valley had a women’s club chartered by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, a national organization with many notable past accomplishments. They sold enough war bonds during World War II to purchase 431 planes, advocated for seat belts, and supported the Women’s Suffrage Movement. More recent projects include advocating for the Family Leave Act, funding libraries for Native Americans, and raising awareness of human trafficking and domestic violence.

PUC REDUCES REQUESTED INCREASES FOR RATES FROM MONTANA-DAKOTA UTILITIES. PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission significantly reduced rate increases for both South Dakota electric and natural gas customers served by Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. at their regular meeting in Pierre today, Aug. 13, 2024. The commission’s actions came after a year-long analysis of two MDU requests: to increase base rates for electric service to customers in its South Dakota territory by approximately $2.98 million annually or approximately 17.3%, and to raise natural gas rates by approximately $7.42 million annually or 11.2%.

DOE adds $700 million to North Dakota, Montana electrical energy project
(The Center Square) – The Department of Energy is adding $700 million to a $3.6 billion project that will boost the electrical energy supply for North Dakota and Montana. The funding from DOE’s Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program will go toward a 3,000-megawatt High-Voltage Direct Current Voltage Source Converter transmission line from Center, N.D., to Colstrip, Mont., according to North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
