Man wanted on a Chippewa County warrant for 29 years has been apprehended
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle in 1994 and crashing into a squad car, and had an open warrant in Chippewa County for nearly 30 years, has been arrested. Neng Yang, 47, of St. Paul, Minn., was charged in March 1995 with fleeing or eluding an officer in a motor vehicle. When he failed to show up for court in May 1995, a warrant was issued for Yang’s arrest. ...

Plans announced for HSHS Foundation Fund
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Those who donate to the hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation got a letter in the mail giving some insight into where those dollars will go. Foundation leaders sent out a letter this week, saying more than $16.5 million dollars will be contributed locally. They say $4.5 million will go to the Community Foundation of Chippewa County and the other half to the Eau Claire Foundation. $4.8 million is also expected to go towards a “grief services research project,” like the healing place.

Millions Set for Community, Endowments, and Beyond
HSHS says it will donate nearly 16 million-dollars in former donations to its hospitals in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation yesterday said the bulk of the money, nine million-dollars, will go to the Community Foundation of Chippewa County and Eau Claire Community Foundation. Each will get four-and-a-half million-dollars. HAHS says it will give nearly five million-dollars to the Monsignor Klimek Healing Presence Endowment, the Healing Place Endowment, and the Healing Place Fund. There will be another three million in other charitable donations, and then HSHS will give 150 thousand-dollars to former employees at Sacred Heart and St. Joe’s. Four people escape house fire in Chippewa County, blaze contained to single room of two-story home
Firefighters responded to a house fire Sunday near the border of Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire. The fire at a two-story house, located at 1245 Ervin Road in Eau Claire, did not cause any injuries. Four people and a pet escaped the blaze prior to the fire department's arrival. The residents were later assisted by the Red Cross.
