Scooter Accident Under Investigation
On Sunday August 11th, authorities were on scene just before 11:30 am after Chippewa County Sheriff’s office received a report of an incident involving an e-scooter. The investigation shows that a 14-year-old female was operating an e-scooter without a helmet, south bound on 170th street south of STH 178.
Girl injured in Chippewa County crash
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A 14-year-old girl has suffered serious injuries after being involved in a crash on an E-scooter on Sunday, said Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes. The crash occurred at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday on 170th Street, south of Highway 178 in Chippewa Falls, Hakes wrote in a press release. The girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. “The operator lost control of the scooter and struck her head on the pavement,” Hakes wrote. “The operator sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. Anson and Eagle Point Fire and first responders along with Chippewa Falls Ambulance responded to the scene and provide medical treatment. Mayo One helicopter responded and the operator was transported to a Twin Cities area hospital for medical treatment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
Bloomer man accused of sexually assaulting boy
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Bloomer man accused of sexually touching a juvenile boy has been arrested and appeared in Chippewa County Court on Monday. Scott R. Detlaff, 43, 14047 110th St., faces possible charges of repeated child sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault of someone under age 16. He appeared in court for a bond hearing, where Judge Benjamin Lane set a $20,000 cash bond. Lane set a return date for Aug. 20. ...

Nitrogen management and water quality field day Aug. 19
The Division of Extension, UW-Madison, Chippewa County Extension Office will host a casual field day on nitrogen management and groundwater quality at Triple T Farms north of Chippewa Falls on August 19 from 10:30am to noon. The program is part of the Nitrogen Optimization Pilot Program funded through the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. Participants will learn about nitrogen application and management and how nitrogen impacts groundwater.
