CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Royal Credit Union Foundation gifted $150,000 towards the Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation, as the money will go towards continuing development of the Market on River.

“The impact of the Royal Credit Union Foundation donation is invaluable to the future success of Market on River” said Jackie Boos, facilities director for Market on River, in a press release. “This generous donation allows for us to have our best foot forward with state-of-the-art AV and sound. We are humbled and excited for this amazing partnership.”

The RCU Foundation was established in 2012 to support communities in western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.

In gifting the money, the RCU Foundation said their motivation for the donation is because of their commitment to their communities.

“The Foundation supports organizations and initiatives that impact education, health, and the arts. We focus on large-scale, capital projects — those that help build community and create the spaces where people come together, making this project a good fit for our Foundation,” said John Sackett, RCU Foundation president.

“Wisconsin Farmers Union and the Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation both have a long history of enhancing the quality of life for family farmers, rural communities, and all people through educational opportunities and cooperative endeavors.”

The Market on River project in downtown Chippewa Falls will have retail space, dining and office space in a building near Riverfront Park.

Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce President Allyson Wisniewski said it will add a vibrant and different opportunity for business to be a part of.

“This location will also be the headquarters of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, which is already in Chippewa Falls, but will continue to allow them to be in our community,” said Wisniewski. “I think this project overall, other than providing the dining, retail, housing and office space — multiple types of development within this one building; it also shows the trust and commitment that Wisconsin Farmers have for the Chippewa Falls community by choosing to invest in the Market on River. I think having this investment in the downtown area will also spur other interested businesses in the area while also positively impacting those that are currently here.”

“We have seen firsthand how public/private endeavors can enhance the communities where they are located,” said Sackett. “This renovated space will provide many benefits to the Chippewa Falls community and beyond, including a food court, housing, and meeting rooms.”

He continued, and said, “We are proud to support this project that will ensure that the Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation will continue to foster local growth, promote cooperative endeavors, and encourage outreach into the community.”

Wisniewski said they will be excited to see the building open, as the Market on River is planned to open this fall.
