Car show and market place event set

CHISHOLM—A local car dealer is holding a car show to benefit two nonprofits in the community of Chisholm.

Martin Motors Car Show, now in its second year, starts at 10 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at 12 Central Avenue N. in Chisholm. Admission is a monetary donation or a donation of nonperishable food items to the Chisholm Food Shelf, and/or a monetary donation or pet food item to Bretta’s Pantry at Precious Paws Humane Society in Chisholm.

Chisholm Lions Club Lake Street Market is taking place in conjunction with the car show, and as of last week there were about a dozen vendors signed up, according to Kelly Harris, one of the organizers and Lions Club Member. Future dates for the market are July 18, Aug. 22, Sept. 19.

Concessions are available on site with a number of food vendors participating.

The event includes live music from Hobo Revival from 10 to noon, followed by Vitamin Brown from 1 p.m. until 3 or 4 p.m.

In the midst of planning the car show, owners Josh and Jessica Martin are recovering from hail damage from a storm last week that impacted several vehicles on their lot.

Jessica said dealing with the storm damage while planning the show is a challenge but they’re hoping for a good turnout.

“We invited car clubs from here to the cities,” Jessica said, noting that anyone who wants to enter is welcome.
