Holmes tops nearby Lawrence Academy in three sets

The Lawrence Academy Warriors have been preparing for its upcoming fall sports play.

The Lady Warriors volleyball team have already graced their court with non-conference play against the John A. Holmes Aces.

The Lady Warriors, a feisty, quick and resilient bunch, gave all they had to give on Monday, Aug. 12 against the Lady Aces of John A. Holmes in Edenton.

It wasn’t enough against the fortified front line of Holmes as the Warriors fell in three sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-19.

The Lady Aces infiltrated the weak areas in the Warriors’ defense with wicked kills shots to soft tips. Defensively, the Aces stood tall as they constantly rejected Lawrence attempts at the net.

The Warriors fought hard the entire match and never fretted. They continued to believe as they stood toe-to-toe with the Aces throughout the sets, but faltered toward the end of each set.
