    Coroner rules death of Chrisman man a homicide

    EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Edgar County Coroner has ruled a death from a March 15 crash a homocide.

    According to a release on Facebook , Scott Barrett the coroner for Edgar County has ruled the death of James H. Lutz a homicide. Lutz was the victim in a crash on March 15 on Illinois Highway Route One. A white 2014 Ford F150 driven by 38-year-old Melissa J. Edwards of Marshall Illinois crossed the center line and struck Lutz vehicle.

    Lutz was pronounced dead at the scene. Edwards after surviving the accident had toxicology testing. The results showed that she was under the influence of meth and Ketamine at the time. The decision to pursue criminal charges is now the responsibility of the State’s Attorney office.
