A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for wanton endangerment and sexual abuse related crimes on Friday. Christopher Smith, age 37 of Illinois, was indicted on multiple charges including wanton endangerment after he reportedly led law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit that began on East Ninth Street and ended in Hopkins County in May.
Hopkinsville man charged with strangulation, assault
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hopkinsville man following a reported assault on Old Madisonville Road Thursday. According to a news release, the victim and 26-year-old Justin Cooper of Hopkinsville had been in an argument that escalated. Cooper allegedly wrapped his hands around the victim’s neck, impeding her ability to breathe before leaving the scene.
