New Jersey (Scary Good Eats App) - It's time to eat some Hot Dogs and New Jersey has so many great spots to enjoy a good weiner for National Hot Dog Day which is on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Before you go on your journey of consuming hot dogs, you should have a solid weiner plan in place so you end up with the best hot dog possible. So many details go into making a great hot dog, here a a few things to look for.

It all starts with what's inside, and most hot dogs are generally all beef. Some places use a mix of beef and pork, while a traditional all pork hot dog is considered a frankfurter. Each has their own way of preparing the hot dog, using different methods that include boil, deep fry, grill and tabletop. Just like the hot dog itself, some use a combination to present the best hot dog. The casing of the hot dog provides the finish and finale. This can make or break any regular hot dog.

"To me its all about the snap" says Jeff Ananson of the New Jersey Hot Dog Joints, who has been a hot dog fan all his life, so much so that they named a hot dog after him at Pop's Place in Rockaway, New Jersey. "I love when you bite into a dog and you get that perfect snap". Anason will be on NJ 101.5 on national hot dog day giving his take on the best hot dogs in NJ.

The Scary Good Eats App will be presenting a week long series called weiner week that will feature some of the top NJ places to grab a hot dog, ending with some award recognitions for the best performances.
