Poor Start Dooms the Yankees as Nationals win series finale 5-2

    2024-08-29

Washington, DC (New York Yankees App) - Carlos Rodon has a slow start on the mound and the Yankees offense was non existent for a second consecutive night as the Yankees once again fell to the Nationals 5-2 on Wednesday night August 8, 2024.

The Yankees got their first run in the second inning when Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a solo home run, which was his 22nd of the year and ninth in just 20 games with the Bombers. The other run came in the fifth inning when Alex Verdugo led off with a single, and two straight ground outs allowed him to move all the way to third. That put him in prime position for Aaron Judge, who singled to right to score the runner and make it a three-run game.

The Yankees squandered another opportunity to take advantage of a favorable schedule. Baltimore lost to the Dodgers 6-4 late last night in Los Angeles, which keeps the Yankees one game up on the Orioles in the American League East.
