    Gunfire erupts and Minors shot at High School Football Game in New Jersey; Report

    Wayne, NJ - Two minors sustained gun shot wounds as gunfire erupted in the parking lot at Passaic County Technical Institute on Friday, August 30, 2024 at around 7:45pm at the conclusion of a football game between PCTI and Lenape.

    According to a witness who was at the game, and wants to remain anonymous, one minor was struck twice in the stomach and the other was struck in the leg. "Everthing happend so fast, you could hear the gunshots and hear the damage the bullets were doing" said the witness, "I was right by the first student that was shot and wound up putting a tourniquet on him".

    Lenape made the 90 mile, 2 hour drive from Medford, NJ to take on PCTI. Lenape high school is located in south jersey, outside of Philadelphia and usually would not play a north jersey team during the regular season. A representative from Lenape High School provided the following statement. "All Lenape High School students are safe and unharmed. We were informed there was gunfire, and two individuals needed medical attention at the conclusion of a football game tonight in Wayne, NJ," the spokesperson said in a statement.

    "The suspect is in custody. No Lenape High School students or staff were invloved in the disturbance. Our thoughts are with the individuals harmed and the Passaic Technical Institute Community."

    The ages of the victims and the extent of their injuries were not immediatly available as this is an ongoing investigation.
