Bronx, NY (New York Yankees App) - A total of seven Yankee pitchers combined to give up 21 hits and 14 runs as the St Louis Cardinal put up two touchdowns in a 14-7 win over the Yankees at the stadium.

Starting Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes went four innings giving up nine hits and five earned runs. The Yankees offense battled their way back in the game, but the Yankee pitching would continue to give up hits and even more runs. First basemen Anthony Rizzo made his long awaited return after being on injured reserve since June. Rizzo was solid at the plate going 2-for-4 and scored two runs.

The Cardinals made history yesterday when they defeated the Yankees in New York for the first time in history 6-5. St Louis added to that history by winning the series.
