Yankees have a few Scares before Halloween in 8-4 win over Texas

Arlington, Texas (New York Yankees App) - The Yankees had a few injury scares as they beat the Rangers 8-4 on Monday night at Globe Life Field in game one of a three game series. Starting pitcer Gerrit Cole was pitching great for six innings and looked like the ace that the Yankees need him to be down the stretch and into October. The first scare in the seventh inning when Cole grabbed his left calf during his warm up pitches, former pitcher David Cone immediatly commented from the broadcast booth as a muscle cramp. "That's a cramp" said Cone, a five time MLB All Star and World Series champion, "I know first hand what that is like".

In the fifth inning Rangers reliever Chase Anderson entered the game with two players in scoring position. He promply gave the Yankees a scare by nailing catcher Austin Wells with a pitch directly on his hand. Wells stayed in the game, and with the bases loaded Jazz Chisholm Jr smoked a single to right to score Soto. Rizzo then neatly put the next pitch just fair down the left field line to score two, bouncing into the stands for an automatic double.

The third scare was directed at the Rangers, as the Yankees has a scary five-run sixth inning. Gleybor Torres set the tone with three hits and two RBI, Anthony Rizzo and Aaron Judge drove in big runs in that big sixth, and Giancarlo Stanton sealed the deal with a home run.

The Yankees continue to compete for the American league east championship with Baltimore as they are a half-game ahead of the Orioles for first place.
