A Florida family will soon be reunited with their two dogs that went missing more than three months ago while the family was visiting relatives in Church Hill.

In late March the Florida family was visiting relatives in Church Hill along with their two family dogs, Macy Lou and Cindy Lou.

As the family was packing up to return home the dogs spotted something in the woods and took off running. The family searched and searched endlessly.

They made flyers and posted them in hopes to find their babies. There were no sightings anywhere and unfortunately they had to return home to Florida heartbroken.

The Church Hill relatives vowed to continue looking for Macy Lou and Cindy Lou each day. Unfortunately the Church Hill family was not aware of the Hawkins County Humane Society because they had only recently moved from Illinois to Church Hill.

On June 20 the Hawkins County Humane Society received two dogs from Surgoinsville Animal Control that were found running at large in the vicinity of Sandidge Hollow in Surgoinsville.

We could tell they were bonded and just so sweet. The two dogs were vaccinated and dewormed on intake and their photos were then posted on the Hawkins County Humane Society Facebook page and Petfinder.

On Tuesday the animal shelter received a phone call from Cheri Fill who lives in Dunnellon, Fla.

Cheri said there was an excellent possibility that the two dogs brought in on June 20 were their missing dogs Macy Lou and Cindy Lou that we posted Facebook.

She was so excited, exclaiming, “I think those are our missing dogs!”

We confirmed with photos sent to us by the family it was indeed Macy Lou and Cindy Lou who had been missing for more than three months.

We were all just so excited and happy for them. They never thought they would see their fur babies again.

Cheri just kept saying “Thank you” over and over, and contacted her father-in-law Rich Fill in Church Hill, who rushed to the shelter to pick up Macy Lou and Cindy Lou.

The dogs were so happy to see him, and their owners Bob and Cheri Fill are preparing to come back to Tennessee to be reunited with their fur-babies. Miracles do happen. Such a perfect ending.

But, happy endings like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of countless volunteers, and members of the public who donate their time, money, and resources to keep the Hawkins County Humane Society up and running.

If you would like to help support the Hawkins County Humane Society you can find out more by calling 423-272-6538; messaging them on Facebook; emailing info@hawkinscountyhumanesociety.org; or visiting the Hawkins County Humane Society shelter in person at 5180 US Hwy 11, Rogersville.
