CHURCH POINT, La. ( KLFY ) — A Church Point man was arrested after a traffic stop last week, and charged with drug and gun offenses, authorities said.

Timothy Mattingly, 57, is charged with the following:

    • Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
    • possession of marijuana

Church Point Police said an officer conducted a traffic stop at 9:34 p.m. Thursday of a vehicle that was following another too close on N. Main Street in Church Point. During the traffic stop the officer learned the driver, Mattingly, was driving under suspension. While conducting a search a glass meth pipe containing residue was found in his pants pocket, police said. Further investigation of the vehicle found marijuana, nearly 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, a scale and gun.
