Plans for a Sheetz in Churchville pending approval by Harford officials

Plans for a Sheetz gas station and convenience store at the corner of Route 22 and Schucks Road in Churchville are awaiting approval by Harford County and state officials.

The facility would replace the former Richard’s Fish and Crabs store that has sat empty since the business changed locations in 2021.

The proposed Sheetz plans include a 6,139 square-foot convenience store with a drive-thru and 16 fueling stations. Indoor seating is planned for 30 and outdoor seating will have 16 seats and five tables.

Plans were submitted in April 2023.

The project’s traffic impact study outlined plans to expand Schucks Road near the Route 22 intersection to create additional turning space for motorists.. Access to the 2.88-acre site from Schucks Road would be via a former maintenance road at the rear of the site.

To avoid traffic complications, no left turns would be allowed for motorists leaving the site for Route 22.

During a community input meeting on Oct. 23, project developers stated that they plan to begin demolition of the former Richard’s Fish and Crabs facility sometime later this year.

Since the site plan and traffic study have yet to be approved by both the state and the county, there is no timeline for project completion.
