The Cincinnati Reds now know their Opening Day opponent for next season as Major League Baseball on July 18 released the team’s schedule for 2025.<\p> The Reds again open the season at home – a long-standing baseball tradition – Thursday, March 27, when they take on the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ball Park.<\p>

Here’s how much Bengals received in national TV money last season
The Cincinnati Bengals saw an increase in national money shared by National Football League teams last season.<\p> The Bengals received $402.3 million in national revenue from last season, based on the Green Bay Packers financial report released this week. The Packers are the only NFL team that is publicly owned and publicly reports financial data. Each NFL team shares equally in national money, the vast majority of which comes from the league’s lucrative TV contracts.<\p>

City launches property tax relief program
A new program from the city of Cincinnati aimed at helping residents pay overdue tax bills in the wake of skyrocketing property assessments in some neighborhoods is now available.<\p> The “HomeSafe” program will distribute $1 million and pay up to $10,000 of delinquent property tax bills for low-to-moderate income homeowners.<\p>

Metro taps former GE Aviation exec to fill C-suite role
Cincinnati Metro has added a GE Aviation and JetBlue alumnus to its executive leadership team. <\p> Timothy Walker has been named the regional bus system's new chief financial officer, effective July 15. Walker most recently served as CFO for Contrail Aviation Support, a Wisconsin-based commercial aircraft trading and leasing firm. He succeeds Larry Pinkelton, who passed away in August 2023 after just over a year in the role. <\p>

Southwest Airlines overhauls schedule at CVG
Southwest Airlines has cut the number of flights it has from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport by about 12%, and has made particularly deep reductions to its CVG-Chicago route, according to a Business Courier analysis of flight data from Cirium. <\p> Southwest has slashed the route to Chicago's Midway International Airport by 43% in terms of seats and 44% when measured in total number of flights. It also has cut the number of flights going to Baltimore-Washington International Airport by 24%. <\p>
Cincinnati Open tournament director changes role, field is revealed
The Cincinnati Open’s tournament director is no longer in that role, while the event has revealed its player field that features the world’s top 41 tennis players on each of the men’s and women’s tours. <\p> Todd Martin’s role has shifted to adviser to Ben Navarro, the Charleston, S.C., businessman who acquired the tournament in October 2022 through his Beemok Capital family office, a tournament spokesman told me. The move is “part of the ongoing evolution of Beemok Sports & Entertainment,” the spokesman said.<\p>
New $29M mid-rise unveiled Uptown near UC
Uptown Rental Properties is underway with a $29 million mid-rise apartment project in Corryville near the University of Cincinnati. <\p> Uptown Rentals July 16 unveiled the branding for the Point, located at 47 William Howard Taft Road on the site of a former standalone structure housing a Superior Credit Union. <\p>
Builder pessimism grows with rising interest rates, added inventory
Homebuilders continue to offer a bevy of incentives to remain competitive, but sustained higher mortgage rates and an increase in the number of homes for sale is dampening their overall sentiment about market conditions. <\p> Major homebuilders like Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) and D.R. Horton Inc. (NYSE: DHI), among others, have been offering various concessions to prospective buyers at a time of much-higher mortgage rates than a few years ago and record home-price appreciation. Among the more popular offerings is a mortgage-rate buydown, in which a builder will put points down to reduce a buyer's mortgage rate.<\p>
Greater Cincinnati firm lands $150M for Midwest expansion
A Greater Cincinnati-based provider of fiber internet service is using $150 million in new working capital to expand its footprint in the Midwest. <\p> Mason-headquartered Omni Fiber, which launched in 2022 with a $250 million investment from Silicon Valley’s Oak Hill Capital, said July 16 it had closed $150 million in debt financing from Stonepeak Credit, a New York-headquartered alternative investment firm. <\p>
