Van Go[gh], indeed! The Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM) is on the move as it rolls out its new art studio on wheels.

The “CAM Cruiser” aims to bring art-making and engagement to people of all ages throughout Greater Cincinnati, offering a variety of staff-guided, educational and fun activities from a specially designed van. While CAM has hosted these kinds of creative community activities for decades, it says the van will bring everything to a whole new level as it travels to festivals, outdoor events, libraries and nonprofits. The van is equipped with two 50-inch TVs that can display high-quality images, an electric awning to provide artmakers shade, speakers and custom, built-in storage cabinets.

In addition to offering art-making activities, the CAM Cruiser also allows the museum to introduce itself to new audiences. It’ll help bring art to underserved communities and rural areas and offer events like workshops, lectures and interactive projects.

“The CAM Cruiser allows the museum to reach local communities in a new way, meeting audiences where they are and offering different opportunities to look at and create art,” Carrie Atkins Maras, CAM’s associate director of community engagement, said in a press release. “We cannot wait to hit the road!”

To book the CAM Cruiser for a festival or public event, you can email artforlife@cincyart.org . You can also follow the Cruiser on the museum’s website and social media to see where it will be next.
