Take a step back in time this August and experience Union Terminal in its train station heyday during 1940s Day.

1940s Day is Cincinnati Museum Center’s annual celebration of the decade that featured pin curls, roaring warbirds and a pivotal era in United States history — one that the museum's building played a role in. During World War II, over 3 million American troops were transported through Union Terminal — nearly one-fifth of the nation's soldiers who served.

Now, 1940s Day will immerse guests in the music, fashion, vehicles and people who shaped the decade. Visitors can enjoy a classic car show, costume contest and live music from the P&G Big Band. D-Day: Normandy 1944 will be playing in the OMNIMAX Theater and, weather permitting, there will be a Tri-State Warbird Museum flyover. There will also be tours of Union Terminal and a virtual reality recreation the building’s since-demolished concourse.

1940s Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and activities are included with the price of admission to the museum.

Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave., West End. More info: cincymuseum.org .
