A criminal court case in which a woman is accused of killing her mother by pinning her to a garage wall with a car is stalled after a judge ruled that she is incompetent to stand trial Thursday.

Anna Millette, 23, will now be admitted to Summit Behavioral Healthcare to get treatment for up to a year until she is stable enough to stand trial.

The ruling, made in a hearing Thursday by Clermont County Court of Common Pleas Judge Richard Ferenc, says that Millette’s mental state prevents her from understanding the "nature and objective of the proceedings against her" and from "meaningfully assisting her defense," according to court records.

The decision takes into account the opinion of Dr. Lora N. Davis of the Southern Ohio Forensic Evaluation Services, who submitted a report summarizing the results of Millette's court-ordered psychiatric examination. Davis' report found that Millette isn't fit to stand trial but could become competent to stand trial within a year of treatment.

Millette was arrested in June by Miami Township Police for trapping her 64-year-old mother, Joyce Millette, between a garage wall and a car, ultimately killing her.

Millette faces charges of aggravated murder and felonious assault in the case.

Julie Pederson, Millette's attorney, did not respond to a voicemail from The Enquirer seeking comment prior to publication.

Miami Township police released body-camera footage of the incident at the time. In the 18-second video, a car horn blares as officers tell the suspect to stop. Millette rapidly drives the car in reverse, hitting two officers, Chief of Police Mike Mills said at the time.

She then fled the scene in the vehicle as officers chased after her. The pursuit ended when she crashed on Interstate 275 near Loveland, Mills said.

Officers took her into custody. She’s been listed as an inmate at the Clermont County Jail since June 19.

The incident in June marked the second time Millette had been accused of intentionally hitting someone with a car .

She struck her boyfriend with a car after he broke up with her in May 2022, leading to charges of felonious assault, according to a complaint filed in Clermont County Municipal Court.

Following that incident, police found the 19-year-old man bleeding heavily from the head, according to court records.

Millette pleaded guilty in that case and was sentenced to jail time in January 2023 and was granted judicial release and placed on probation later that year.
