Ribs, the Rusty Griswolds and a front row seat to Riverfest - a night for a charity

Breast Cancer Awareness month isn't until October, but American Cancer Society's Men Wear Pink campaign in Cincinnati is starting early this year with Rendezvous On The River, a Riverfest fireworks watch party at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse.

The event will feature a buffet-style dinner, music by the Rusty Griswolds and a fireworks watch party outside the restaurant.

Men Wear Pink ambassadors Dean Gregory , owner of the Montgomery Inn; Steve Frisch, a founding member of the Rusty Griswolds and TriHeath Cincinnati Director of Community Relations Jeanette Altenau are sponsoring the event that will support the Men Wear Pink campaign and the Friars Club, a non-profit social service organization dedicated to serving at-risk children through organized sports.

The trio joined the Enquirer's "That's So Cincinnati" podcast to share details about the event and talk about the nearly $2 million the Cincinnati Men Wear Pink campaign has raised since it started in Cincinnati in 2016. All the money donated in Cincinnati helps local causes.

"Riverfest day is a day where we probably couldn't open the restaurant because our parking lot would fill up and nobody would leave all day so we've always had a charitable fundraiser there," Gregory said. "We've got a great event planned. These are going to be the best seats in town. The fireworks are right in front of your face."

When Gregory called Altenau saying the night was available for an event, she knew right away where money raised would go. Gregory has long been involved with the Friars Club dinner and he's a Men Wear Pink ambassador. And Frisch is an ambassador too.

"It just felt like a natural fit," Altenau said.
