College move-in day: When do students return to the biggest Ohio universities? What to know

It's that time of the year again—time for classes to start.

And students heading to Ohio colleges and universities for the first time, or returning to campus, will soon be moving into their residence halls, if they haven't already.

Here's a look at when those move-in dates are happening at Ohio's largest universities.

The University of Akron, August 16-18 and 20-22

At the University of Akron, some students -- such as marching band members -- were able to move in on Friday, Aug. 16. However, most of the students will move in from Aug. 20-22, according to UA's website . Students must have a move-in appointment to be issued a key for their room.

The University of Dayton, August 16

First-year students will move into their residence hall on Friday, Aug. 16, according to the University of Dayton's website . Following that, it's Welcome Weekend at the university, which all first-year students are required to attend.

The University of Cincinnati, August 20-25

Students heading to the residence halls at the University of Cincinnati must schedule move-in times, according to the school's website . Approved early arrivals can move in from Aug. 17-19. First-year students will arrive between Aug. 20 and 22. Upperclassmen will return to the dorms between Aug. 23 and 25.

Bowling Green State University, August 21-25

New students will arrive on campus from Aug. 21 to 22, according to the BGSU website . Returning students will move in between Aug. 24 and 25. All students must first go through a drive-thru check-in process.

The University of Toledo, August 21-23

At the University of Toledo, honors students will return to campus on Aug. 21. New students move in on Aug. 22. Then, on Aug. 23, it's time for returning students to arrive. UT's website has specific instructions for each residence hall.

Wright State University, August 21-22 and 24

Move-in dates for the residence halls at Wright State University will be Aug. 21 and 22, according to its website. Students choosing to live in university apartments can move in on Aug. 24. Students must have reserved a move-in time slot to reduce traffic and wait times on move-in day.

Youngstown State University, August 21-24

New students at Youngstown State University will move into residence halls on Aug. 21 and 22. Returning students will follow on Aug. 23 and 24. All residents are required to sign up for a move-in date and time slot.

Ohio University, August 22-24

First- and second-year students will return to Ohio University between Aug. 22 and 24. The exact date and time depend on the residence hall and floor. An exact schedule can be found on the university's website .

Cleveland State University, August 22-24

According to Cleveland State University's Returning Student Housing Guide , move-in dates are scheduled from Aug. 22 to 24.

Shawnee State University, August 22-25

At Shawnee State University, new and transfer students will move into the residence halls on Aug. 22. Returning students will move in from Aug. 23 to 24. Lastly, late arrivals (who must email the university) will be moving in on Aug. 5, according to its website .

Miami University, August 23-25

According to its website , first-year students at Miami University will move into the residence halls on Aug. 23. Then, returning students will come back from Aug. 24 to 25. Students will be assigned a time block for their move.

Central State University, August 6-10

Central State University students got to campus early, according to its website. Freshmen moved in on Aug. 6 and 7, with returning students making their move on Aug. 9 and 10.

Xavier University, August 14-15

At Xavier University, first-year students arrived on campus between Aug. 14 and 15, according to its website .

The Ohio State University, August 14-17

Students began moving in at Ohio State University on Aug. 14, and will continue through Aug. 17. All students needed to schedule a day and time of arrival with the university for their move, according to the school's website .

Kent State University, August 13-15

Kent State University students returned to campus from Aug. 13 to 15. The dates and times were determined by students' room number and last name, according to its website .
