A man accused of killing his mother and wounding his father in a Green Township stabbing this month was indicted on charges in the attack Monday.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Kenneth Mortimer, 40, on 11 counts including aggravated murder, kidnapping and felonious assault in connection with an attack on his parents in Green Township on Aug. 9. His father, Thomas Mortimer, sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack. His mother, Barbara Mortimer, was fatally stabbed.

If convicted, Kenneth Mortimer faces life in prison with no possibility of parole, according to a press release issued Monday by the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office.

Green Township police were sent to the 3000 block of Palmhill Lane around 3:57 p.m. for a report of a possible stabbing in progress. When they arrived, officers found Kenneth Mortimer's father standing covered in blood as well as his mother, who was also bloodied, unresponsive on the floor.

Court documents say he stabbed his parents, both 75 years old, after arguing with his mother because she would not let him stay in their Palmhill Lane home. When his mother told his father to call psychiatric services, Kenneth Mortimer grabbed a knife and stabbed his parents while they were sitting on the couch, police reported. His mother ran, but he dragged her back into the house and stabbed her multiple times, the documents state.

Cincinnati police later found and arrested the suspect near Mount Airy Forest after prosecutors say he fled from the scene in a car. He later confessed to the crime on video, court documents state.

Kenneth Mortimer's attorney is Connor Reilly with Ernst & Associates. A representative of the firm declined comment on his behalf.

Kenneth Mortimer is held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $2 million bond.
