One of the Midwest's most iconic fast food chains will shut down a distribution facility in Northern Kentucky later this year.

White Castle Distributing LLC will be ceasing operations at its Covington distribution plant on Rolling Hills Drive on Oct. 11, the company said in a letter to Mayor Joseph Meyer.

All 58 employee positions will be eliminated by Nov. 22, but the company said 14 employees will remain after Oct. 11 to "conduct warehousing and other closing operations" for approximately one month.

A White Castle spokesperson told The Enquirer the closure is due to the company "consolidating its manufacturing efforts to continue its focus on sustainable growth offering value and affordable food to its customers everywhere."

Production will be shifted to other existing White Castle plants, the spokesperson added.

White Castle said in the letter that employees who remain employed and finish in good standing through their scheduled separation date will be eligible for a completion bonus and supervisory employees will be offered a severance package.

The spokesperson also said that all of the plant's employees will be offered ongoing employment with White Castle in other parts of the business.

White Castle, famous for its hamburger sliders, chicken rings and crinkle-cut fries, currently has over 30 locations across Greater Cincinnati.
