House where Tom Hanks lived while filming 'A League of Their Own' for sale in Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The home at 14300 Darmstadt Road has five bedrooms, three-and-half baths, and a slice of movie history.

The home where Tom Hanks stayed during the filming of "A League of Their Own" is currently on the market in Northern Vanderburgh County. Handled by Dauby Real Estate and realtor Brandon Stewart, the five-acre property and 4,800-square-foot house is going for $1.2 million.

The listing touts Hanks' past there. And it isn't the first time it's been used as a selling point. Courier & Press archives show a listing for the home that mentions Hanks back in November 1991, a few months after he spent the summer here making the baseball classic.

"Tom Hank's ( sic) family chose this country contemporary for their housing needs," the '91 listing reads, its words barely visible under a giant PENDING graphic.

Hanks was just one of several stars in town in 1991. He, Geena Davis, Rosie O'Donnell, director Penny Marshall and Madonna could all be seen around town as film crews packed the city to film historic scenes at Bosse Field. Madonna had less-than-warm feelings about her time in Evansville. Hanks, though, loved it.

In a 2021 appearance on The Bill Simmons podcast , he called making "A League of Their Own" the best experience of his career.

"I would say, probably No. 1 would be 'A League of Their Own' because all I did all summer was play baseball. I shagged fly balls), I ate turkey dogs, I took infield with Robin Knight and a ton of other people. I played baseball all summer long in Evansville, Indiana, and in Wrigley Field – you know, there was a day of doing that," he said.

"And I had all my kids with me. I had all my family with me. It was a big-ass summer in the Midwest. We lived in a house in the middle of cornfields. We went to Burger King at night and Dairy Queen in the afternoon. It was a great summer. And my entire family still speaks about it."
