    Winner, winner, pizza's for dinner!

After a weeklong bracket battle between 32 of the best pizza places in town, the cheese has risen to the top, and we are ready to crown the winner of the Cincinnati's Favorite Pizza championship. And, who would have guessed it, it came down to two absolute staples in our local food culture.

The final matchup was between "let's-have-a-pizza-party" LaRosa's and the "I-want-to-watch-them-toss-the-dough" Dewey's . And it was one of the closest matchups of the entire shebang. By a difference of just 30 votes from Cincinnati.com readers, Dewey's Pizza will now and forever hold the coveted title of Cincinnati's Favorite Pizza.

On the path to victory, Dewey's smashed the competition in the first four rounds against Rosie's Italian, Two Cities, Catch-a-Fire and Mio's. LaRosa's – the unquestioned top seed and bracket favorite – had an equally breezy trip through the first three rounds against Brooklyn Pizza, Joe's Pizza Napoli and Goodfella's. Then came a 39-vote close call against Adriatico's in the final four.

Another very notable close-shave matchup happened in the first round, when Mac's Pizza Pub defeated St. Francis Apizza by just 5 votes. But Mac's then fell to Ramundo's in round two.

Second-place LaRosa's gets the bragging rights for the highest voting total of any single round with 1,588 votes as the sweet-saucers took down Joe's in round two. For that, they win the consolation prize of me eating there for dinner this week. But not before I get a fancy Dewey's salad and a pepperoni-and-goat-cheese pie elevated on a wire rack first.

I invite you all to join me in sending both finalists a warm, wood-fired congratulations. Heck, let's just celebrate ALL local pizzerias this week, not just the 32 that made it into the bracket. To anyone and everyone serving up tasty pies, thank you for being an integral part of the Cincinnati diet.

And to all of you readers who voted or followed along (or emailed me all the things we got wrong), thanks for playing. Y'all are MY favorite.
