Tight end Josh Whyle, a former La Salle High School and University of Cincinnati Bearcats standout, is set to become one of the first NFL players to wear a Guardian Cap over his helmet in a regular-season game when the Tennessee Titans meet the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Whyle, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, said he made the decision after suffering his second concussion in less than one year.

"Just for my own safety," Whyle said, per tennesseetitans.com's Jim Wyatt . "Can't afford to get another (concussion), and I want to be out there playing on Sundays."

Whyle missed the last two weeks of training camp because of a concussion he sustained making a catch during a joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks in August.

Whyle had nine receptions for 94 yards with a touchdown during his first NFL season with the Titans. He suffered a concussion during the Titans' game against Baltimore in October 2023.
