    Bengals drop home opener to New England Patriots | Replay, highlights

    The Cincinnati Bengals ' offense never got going as they dropped the season opener at Paycor Stadium to the New England Patriots. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for only 154 yards and the Patriots dominated with the run game, which accounted for 170 of their 291 offensive yards.

    The Bengals now head to Kansas City for a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.

    The New England Patriots again made it a two-score game with a 37-yard field goal by kicker Joey Slye. The Cincinnati Bengals get the ball back with 8:46 remaining in the game.

    The Cincinnati Bengals are on the board for the first time this season after running back Zack Moss ran in a 5-yard touchdown. Kicker Evan McPherson converted the point-after-touchdown attempt to make it a one-score game. The drive was nine plays for 90 yards and ate up 4:27 of game clock.

    The Cincinnati Bengals failed to convert on fourth-and-1, but forced a Patriots punt on the next drive. The Bengals and Joe Burrow have yet to score points on offense, but are driving in the third quarter.

    The Bengals got a stop on defense, but it was negated by a turnover after Charlie Jones fumbled the ball on his attempted punt return. Patriots kicker Joey Slye made a 35-yard field goal to extend the Patriots' lead.

    The New England Patriots capitalized on a Cincinnati Bengals turnover to extend their lead before halftime. Kicker Joey Slye made a 32-yard field goal to make it a two-score game.

    Things get worse for Bengals' offense with turnover | Patriots 7, Bengals 0

    Tight end Tanner Hudson appeared poised to score the Bengals' first touchdown, but Patriots safety Kyle Dugger stripped the ball before it crossed the line to get in the end zone. The Bengals had a touchdown called back on the previous play because tight end Mike Gesicki didn't secure a catch in the corner of the end zone.

    The Cincinnati Bengals punted again after another three-and-out, but forced a Patriots punt. Cincinnati takes over on their own 35-yard line with 11:42 remaining in the first half.

    Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson punched it in from 3 yards to give New England an early lead over the Cincinnati Bengals. The touchdown capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive that took up 7:20.

    It appeared as if the Bengals got a first down on a Joe Burrow 14-yard scramble, but offsetting penalties made them replay the down.     The Cincinnati Bengals went three-and-out on their first drive, but forced a New England Patriots punt as well. The Bengals get the ball back with 9:52 remaining in the first quarter on their own 11-yard line.

    Joe Burrow sacked by Patriots on second play of game

    The New England Patriots sacked Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on the second offensive play of the game. Burrow fumbled, but recovered the ball. The Bengals went three-and-out on their first offensive series.

    Ja'Marr Chase has best odds to score a touchdown for Bengals

    Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (+135) has the best odds to score a touchdown anytime, according to BetMGM. Running back Zack Moss is second at +150. Tee Higgins is still on the board at +175 despite being inactive.

    Bengals biggest betting favorite for NFL Week 1

    The Cincinnati Bengals are currently 7.5-point favorites over the New England Patriots, which is the biggest spread of the week. The next closest is the Buffalo Bills being 6.5-point favorites over the Arizona Cardinals.

    Ja'Marr Chase active, Tee Higgins out for Bengals vs. Patriots

    Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is active for today's game against the New England Patriots, but Tee Higgins is not. Higgins suffered a hamstring injury this week and was added to the injury report Friday. The Bengals elevated wide Kendric Pryor from the practice squad yesterday, but he also is inactive.

    The Bengals and Patriots are scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Paycor Stadium. The game will be broadcast locally on CBS (Local 12) and the radio broadcast will be on WEBN (102.7-FM) and ESPN1530 (AM).
