Michaels, Herbstreit, Fitzpatrick reminded of Tua's 2022 concussion vs Cincinnati Bengals

Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit spoke during the fourth quarter of Thursday night's Buffalo-Miami broadcast about how the latest apparent head injury for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was an eerie reminder of the concussion he suffered during a Thursday night game in September 2022 against the Bengals in Cincinnati.

During the second half Thursday, Tagovailoa scrambled for a first down, and went headfirst into Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin instead of sliding. Tagovailoa stayed on the field after a hard hit from Hamlin, and was helped off the field moments later.

The Dolphins ruled him out with a concussion .

"A little irony there. He got hit by Damar Hamlin," Michaels said during the broadcast. "You know that history."

"It really brought back some of those memories from two years ago in seeing that," Amazon Prime Video analyst and former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said after the game.

"If I'm (Tua) at this point, I'm seriously considering retiring from football," Amazon Prime Video's Tony Gonzalez said after the game. "Tua's future? I'm thinking retirement here."
