Bally Sports Ohio play-by-play announcer John Sadak had just finished saying that Elly De La Cruz had never hit a big-league grand slam when the Cincinnati Reds infielder hit the first pitch he saw from Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Jorge Alcala into the seats for the first of his career in the 7th inning of Friday night's 8-4 win .

With the homer, his 24th of the season, De La Cruz also broke Felipe Lopez's franchise record for most homers in a season by a switch-hitter.

"We never know what comes next," De La Cruz told reporters of his first career home run with the bases loaded.
