One team that doesn't mind seeing the Cincinnati Reds play spoiler this week against the Atlanta Braves is the New York Mets .

That's why, as Mark Zuckerman pointed out with a tweet during the Mets' 10-1 win against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field, fans started cheering when the Reds' Spencer Steer hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning at GABP to give Cincinnati a 6-5 lead against Atlanta, in a game in which the Reds had trailed 5-1.

With the Mets' win and the Braves' loss, the Mets are tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League wild card standings. The San Diego Padres are 2 1/2 games ahead of both of those teams for the first wild card. The Braves, with their third consecutive loss, are now two games behind both teams for the final wild card.

The Reds improved to 74-78, and 4-0 against Atlanta this season.
