    Kroger Wellness Festival: Everything to know about the free 2-day event

    The Kroger Wellness Festival , two full days of health-centered workshops, exercise classes and celebrity cameos aimed at helping attendees live healthier lives, will take over Downtown Cincinnati this weekend.

    The free festival on health and wellness will take place Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, at a new location this year.

    Like past iterations, the Kroger Wellness Festival allows attendees to hear from professional athletes, pick up health tips, take a cooking class with Chrissy Teigen and score some freebies. Here's everything you need to know:

    When is the Kroger Wellness Festival?

    The 2024 festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

    Where is the Kroger Wellness Festival?

    The festival will be held at its new location on Fifth Street in Downtown Cincinnati. The festival starts at Main Street and ends at Columbia Parkway, per the Kroger website .

    Is the Kroger Wellness Festival free to attend?

    Yes, the festival is free to attend. There are no tickets to reserve or purchase.

    The festival promises a celebrity lineup, including Bobbly Flay, an award-winning chef, restaurateur and television personality; Alex Rodriguez, a three-time MVP and World Series champion; A.J. Green, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver; Maneet Chauhan, a Food Network star and James Beard Award winner; Chrissy Teigen, a model and New York Times bestselling cookbook author; Dustin Poirier, an MMA star; Allyson Felix, an 11-time Olympic medalist and former track and field athlete; Joey Chestnut, the No. 1 competitive eater in the world, and more.

    Both days will end with a free concert. Third Eye Blind will play on Sept. 27, and Jason Derulo will play on Sept. 28.

    Friday, Sept. 27:

    BodyArmor Stage

    • 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Kroger Associate Bag-Off Competition.
    • 1:45-2:30 p.m.: Hydro Hacks and Curation Station.
    • 3:30-4:15 p.m.: Unstoppable AJ Green, the former Bengals star will share his fitness tips.
    • 5-6 p.m.: Silent Disco.

    Gatorade Stage

    • 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: DJ Mowgli performs.
    • 11-11:30 a.m.: Stretch Lab 101.
    • 12:15-12:45 p.m.: B-b-beatbox 101.
    • 1:45-2:30 p.m.: Taste of Gameday: Grilling and Cooking, a live cooking demo with chef Bobby Flay.
    • 3:15-4 p.m.: Love Makes a Home, exploring different family dynamics and different ways of creating "belonging."
    • 4:45-5:30 p.m.: Fueling Success with Dustin Poirier. The philanthropist and MMA star will host a fireside chat about his mixed martial arts journey.

    • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Kroger Wellness Workout.
    • 2:30-3 p.m.: Sparking Happy Movement pilates session.
    • 1:15-1:45 p.m.: The GLP-1 Game Plan, a session that discusses GLP-1 medications, protein intake and hydration.
    • 3:45-4:15 p.m.: Inside-Out Beauty Workshop, a talk on holistic skin care, dental care and hair care.
    • 5-7 p.m.: Third Eye Blind performs.

    Kenvue Stage

    • 11-11:30 a.m.: Founders Health Equity Forum.
    • 12:15-1 p.m.: Breakdancing Blitz.
    • 2-2:45 p.m.: Flipping the Script with Laurie Hernandez, who will discuss her experience as an Olympic athlete.
    • 3:30-4:15 p.m.: Detoxify/Fortify Wellness Workout.
    • 5-5:30 p.m.: Body Confidence and Dip Fashion Show.

    Smartwater Food as Medicine Stage

    • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Nati Roots, with chef Paul Sturkey who will feature Cincinnati area ingredients for a "culinary and musical storytelling experience."
    • 1:30-2 p.m.: Verde Vibrance, join chef Derrick Braziel, owner of Pata Roja Tacos, for a live cooking demo.
    • 2:45-3:30 p.m.: Grand Portions: Food as Medicine.
    • 4:15-4:45 p.m.: Spice Up Your Wellness with Maneet Chauhan. Chauhan, a celebrity chef, and Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health, will discuss Indian cuisine.
    • 5:30-6 p.m.: James Beard On-the-Go Sampler. A chat and food tasting with chef Jeffery Harris.

    American Greetings Stage

    • 12:15-1:15 p.m.: Stone & Snow performs.
    • 2-2:45 p.m.: Grazing Board Mastery, a workshop on how to make charcuterie boards.
    • 3:45-4:30 p.m.: Written Gratitude Workshop where attendees can write thank you cards to veterans.
    • 5:15-5:45 p.m.: Better for You Beer Tasting.

    Saturday, Sept. 28:

    • 11 a.m.-noon: Safe, Sustainable Wellness, a chat on combating youth opioid use.
    • 11:15 a.m.-noon: Race Street Athletics.
    • 1-2 p.m.: PARFect Swing Golf Workshop.
    • 3-3:45 p.m.: Staying in the Game with Alex Rodriguez. The former MLB star will discuss resilience and maintaining focus when facing challenges.
    • 5:30-7 p.m.: Jason Derulo performs.

    Gatorade Stage

    • 12:45-1:15 p.m.: Kroger x PepsiCo Hunger Action Day Relay.
    • 2-2:30 p.m.: Taste of Gameday: Salsa and Samba.

    • 4-4:45 p.m.: Leading In Stride with Allyson Felix. Lindholz and Felix, an Olympic sprinter Allyson Felix, will discuss women's issues and the importance of positive change.

    Kenvue Stage

    • 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Mental Health Champion Training, an interactive family-friendly workshop featuring Olympian and Paralympian-themed activities, games and challenges.
    • 1-1:45 p.m.: The Fitness Marshall dance workout.
    • 2:45-3:30 p.m.: Of Course I Can, a conversation about the importance of inclusion as it relates to disability.
    • 4:15-5 p.m.: Power of Sleep. This workshop focuses on the power of restful sleep.

    Smartwater Food as Medicine Stage

    • 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Chrissy Back-to-School Mochi Magic, a live cooking session with author and model Chrissy Teigen.
    • 12:45-1:15 p.m.: Healthy Travel Hacks.
    • 2:15-2:45 p.m.: Joey Chestnut “Meats” America. During this live cooking demo, Chesnut and chef Phillip Bach will discuss their love for food and the competitive eater's favorite dishes.
    • 3:45-4:15 p.m.: Mood on the Menu. Chef Christian Gill and podcast host Brandon Saho discuss mental health and food.
    • 5:15-5:45 p.m.: Local Foodie Feature: Kitchen 1883.

    American Greetings Stage

    • 11-11:45 a.m.: Blooms and Buds Workshop. Attendees will learn how to create floral arrangements.
    • 1:15-2 p.m.: Cold Plunge: Mental Health Meets Fitness. Discuss cold therapeutics at this session.
    • 3-3:45 p.m.: Cheese, Please! A workshop on how to make healthier cheese selections.
    • 4:30-5:15 p.m.: In My Affirmation Era, a dance party and friendship bracelet-making session.

    What roads will be closed for the Kroger Wellness Festival?

    To accommodate the event, the city of Cincinnati will close the following streets, starting Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m., through Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.:

    • Fifth Street: Closed between Walnut Street and Columbia Parkway.
    • Columbia Parkway: Closed between Downtown and the Sixth Street ramp.
    • Sycamore Street: Closed between Sixth Street and Fourth Street (access maintained to garages).
    • Broadway Street: Closed between Fourth Street and Sixth Street.
    • Broadway Street: Converted to a temporary two-way traffic pattern between Seventh Street and Sixth Street.
    • Sentinel Street: Closed.
    • Lawrence Street: Closed.

    A marked detour will direct motorists to northbound I-71 and I-471, per a press release. City officials urge drivers to use caution around the event site and to use alternate routes if possible.

    What can you bring to the Kroger Wellness Festival?

    For the safety and security of festival attendees, the use of carts, wagons, suitcases, strollers without children, duffle bags, oversized backpacks, roller bags and wheeled carriers will be prohibited.
