Review: McDonald's new Chicken Big Mac shows up Wendy's Krabby Patty

There's a new Big Mac at McDonald's, but it's missing a key ingredient ... the hamburger.

McDonald's released the Chicken Big Mac on Thursday, Oct. 10, at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time.

First tested in Miami in 2022, the Chicken Big Mac shares similarities to the traditional Big Mac. The sandwich is served on a Big Mac bun and features two tempura battered chicken patties instead of the original sandwich's all-beef patties. It is also topped with Big Mac sauce, cheese, lettuce and pickle slices.

Like always, The Enquirer newsroom tasted this unusual combination so you wouldn't have to. First, we gave the Chicken Big Mac a rating out of five stars. Then we sought to answer the question you're all wondering: Is McDonald's new Chicken Big Mac better than Wendy's recently released Krabby Patty ?

Is the Krabby Patty or the Chicken Big Mac better?

In a surprising turn of events, my colleague David Wysong and I actually agreed on something: the Chicken Big Mac is better than the Krabby Patty.

Although Wysong said he would usually pick Wendy's burgers "over everything," he thinks the Chicken Big Mac tops the classic McDonald's double-decker. Wysong was so impressed by the Chicken Big Mac he gave the sandwich 4 out of 5 stars.

"I'm more of a Wendy's guy," Wysong said. "But this is better than the Krabby Patty."

I'm an avid McDonald's lover, so of course I gave the Chicken Big Mac a seal of approval. I loved that the chicken burger was swimming in sauce, unlike the Krabby Patty, which just tasted like a regular Dave's Double. Rating this sandwich 5 out of 5 stars was a no-brainer for me.

But sadly, the Chicken Big Mac did not win over my colleagues Grace Tucker and Rasputin Todd. Tucker only gave the new sandwich 1 out of 5 stars and said she would not choose the Chicken Big Mac over the Krabby Patty.

"All I'm saying is that this sauce is not working for me," Tucker said.

However, Todd, a huge fan of Big Mac sauce, said the chicken burger was giving him "Filet-o-Fish vibes." Ultimately, the sandwich was just too weird, even for him. He gave it 3.5 stars out of 5.

"I would 1,000% get a Big Mac rather than this thing," he said. Todd did not try the Krabby Patty on Tuesday, so he couldn't compare those two dishes.
