The outlook for on-loan FC Cincinnati player Marco Angulo remains the same after his Monday morning car crash in Quito, Ecuador.

In a statement released Wednesday by his Ecuadorian club, LDU Quito, and translated to English and shared Thursday by FC Cincinnati on X, officials said the following: "Marco Angulo's family express their sincere gratitude to the media and the community in general for the numerous displays of affection received in these difficult times.

"Marco still has a reserved prognosis and we respectfully request that the privacy of him and his loved ones be preservers in this circumstances."

FC Cincinnati added its own touch to the message, saying: "We're all with you, Marco."

The "reserved prognosis" phrase used to characterize Angulo's condition by officials in Ecuador was unchanged from the initial news releases Monday regarding the crash.

On Monday, LDU Quito issued several posts on X, formerly Twitter, on the subject of the crash. One was to express condolences regarding the death 22-year-old Roberto Cabezas. Cabezas died in the crash, was a player at Angulo's former club in Ecuador, and was close friends with Angulo, according to reports.

On Monday evening, LDU Quito also posted a message that translated to: "Go Marco! We are with you."

FC Cincinnati acquired Angulo ahead of the 2023 season from Ecuador's Independiente as one of the top available defensive midfield prospects in South America. In the season to come, Angulo saw mixed on-field results and minutes. He was this year loaned to LDU Quito, one of Ecuador's top-flight soccer clubs. It was a personnel move intended to further his development.

Angulo then had more mixed on-field results in Quito but FC Cincinnati General Manager Chris Albright remained positive about Angulo's potential. Albright indicated during an August news conference that it was possible Angulo could return to play for FC Cincinnati even though LDU Quito had the option to permanently acquire him after the loan period expired later this year.

Albright reiterated during multiple public comments regarding Angulo, including in a spring sit-down interview with The Enquirer, that the 22-year-old player was still young and developing.

"He's playing some. Still a very young player," Albright said in August. "With him, we'll evaluate at the end of the year, 'Is this a player we bring back into our setup?' But we're constantly tracking these guys, following these guys. Watching their games. We have guys assigned to that so we're in the know."
