The Cincinnati Bengals ' defense allowed 29 points per game through the team's first five games of the season.

On Sunday night against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, Lou Anarumo's unit allowed just seven points.

Quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals' offense did just enough to hang on for a 17-7 win on NBC's Sunday Night Football to improve to 2-4 this season.

Running back Chase Brown's 30-yard touchdown run gave Bengals fans an opportunity, finally, to exhale, with 1:52 left, shortly after Brown's fumble out of bounds had them holding their breath.

NBC's Melissa Stark asked Burrow what he thought of the win.

"Ugly, really ugly," Burrow said. "But we got it done. A lot to fix on offense. Defense played great. Nice to have one of those games. They stepped up big time."
