Pete Rose 911 call: Welfare check attempted on day son Tyler found former Red dead

Employees at the Las Vegas building in which Pete Rose lived tried to check on the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer hours before Rose's son, Tyler, found him dead, according to a 911 call obtained Monday by TMZ.com .

The 911 call to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department was made by workers at Panorama Towers at 2:54 p.m. on September 30, according to TMZ.

Employees told the operator they heard a TV playing loudly inside the apartment, but there was no answer when they banged on Rose's door.

"There was concerns earlier as far as Pete Rose's situation because he was shaking and he wasn't answering the door," a male worker told the 911 operator in the recording. "He wasn't responsive, so now he has family and friends out here trying to get on property. But we have this one gentleman that's here portraying to be Metro (police) and we can't confirm if he's Metro or not. So we're having a hard time. So that's why we're calling you guys."

Reviewjournal.com's Noble Brigham reported last week that when Tyler Rose told police he believed his father had died, he said he had last spoken with Pete five days earlier and "knew something was amiss because Rose was not responding to his assistant's text messages." An acquaintance took Pete to the hospital Sept. 25 because he was "acting different," according to police.

Pete's final public appearance came Sept. 29 at the Music City sports collectibles and autograph show in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Clark County coroner's office announced that Rose’s cause of death was hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. He was 83.
