Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered an apparent right leg injury during the second quarter of the NFL Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field.

The Browns confirmed via Twitter early in the third quarter that Watson suffered an Achilles injury.

Watson is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , which likely would end his season.

It was a non-contact injury as Watson planted his foot, with 1:22 remaining in the first half.

"You see the buckle of his leg, my goodness," CBS play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes said during the broadcast.

"Certainly a tough scene to watch with Deshaun Watson," CBS color analyst Adam Archuleta said.

"I have no update just yet," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said on CBS of Watson's injury, at the start of the second half. "Obviously didn't look good."

Watson was emotional as he was carted off the field.

Watson was replaced at QB by Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a 2023 fifth-round pick of the Browns. Thompson-Robinson was promoted ahead of Sunday's game from Cleveland's No. 3 QB to Watson's backup.

Jameis Winston, listed as the Browns' No. 3 quarterback, entered the game during the fourth quarter.

Thompson-Robinson played in eight games last season, with three starts. He hadn't played this season, before Watson's injury Sunday.

Thompson-Robinson led the Browns to their first score of the game, a 1-yard touchdown run by Nick Chubb, shortly after replacing Watson.

Watson is in his third season with Cleveland after playing his first four NFL seasons for the Houston Texans.

After Watson finished last Sunday's loss to Philadelphia with 168 passing yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Cleveland was sticking with Watson as its starter.

Through six games this season, Watson had 1,020 passing yards with five TDs and three INTs, with a quarterback rating of 22.3.
