Cincinnati Reds infielder Matt McLain got to start Saturday in the same lineup with his brother, Sean, for Glendale in an Arizona Fall League game at Goodyear Ballpark.

Matt, a first-round pick of the Reds in 2021, is 25 years old. Sean, a fifth-round pick of the Dodgers in 2022, is 23.

"It's been a while, and it might be the last time," Matt said, per MLB.com's Sam Dykstra . "It's just fun being out there."

The brothers played together, per Dykstra, in August 2020 for Santa Barbara Foresters of the California Collegiate League.

Earlier this month, Matt McLain homered and doubled in his first AFL game.

McLain missed the entire 2024 season after having shoulder surgery and suffering a rib-cage injury during rehab work. He hasn't played in a regular-season game since August of last year, and finished the 2023 season on the injured list with an oblique injury.
