Triplets Make History As New Members Of Alpha Kappa Alpha At The University Of Cincinnati

Earlier this year, identical triplet sisters were initiated into the Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc., at the University of Cincinnati. Brianna, Brittany and Brooke Jones followed their family legacy of being members of the Divine Nine .

Their mother, Brandee Carson-Jones, is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Their father, Jeffrey Jones, is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In stepping into their parents footsteps, the Jones sisters cemented their place within the “Phirst Pham” of the Divine Nine. The term is used to describe families with members who are part of AKA and APhiA.

The sisters made history by becoming the first set of identical triplets to be initiated into the Omicron chapter in its 103-year history, according to The Cincinnati Herald . They announced the news by sharing a celebratory photoshoot on social media. They wore AKA’s official colors and paraphernalia.

“I’ve always been an Alpha woman, but now it’s official,” Brianna wrote on Instagram .

“Phinally became an Alpha woman,” Brooke captioned her post . “In AKAland, I will forever be known as Unpara1lel3d.”

Brittany captioned her Instagram post with, “What they would be if they could 🪞In AKAland they know me as SuPEARLative.”

Founded in 1908, AKA is the first intercollegiate African American sorority. It was started by a group of 16 students led by Ethel Hedgemon Lyle at Howard University. Not only are the Jones sisters contributing to building their family’s legacy, they are also entering Black history of academic excellence and community.
