    Good morning, Cincinnati!

My name is Ruth Cronin. I’m a summer intern at The Enquirer, and I like to write stories about people. You know, real people.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to do a ride-along with the Hamilton County Quick Response Team for a story I was working on.

I was sent out with peer navigator Sarah Coyne and got to see her interact with clients with substance use disorders. I was inspired by the unwavering compassion and support she gave to everyone she encountered, and I could see the love Sarah’s clients had for her. By the end of the day, I had ditched my old story plans and felt confident that Sarah, herself, was the story I needed to tell.

She was kind enough to share her experiences with me, and all of you. My story today gives you a look at the substance use issue in Hamilton County and the efforts to fix it, through the lens of a local mom in recovery. Click here to check it out.
