Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has one primarly goal in 2024: Stay on the field.

Doing so, of course, will help move the Bengals closer to bigger team goals like getting back to the playoffs and contending.

But Burrow says that the primary goal this year is paying better attention to his body.

“Well, number one, I want to be on the field for all the games,” Burrow told Complex’s Ben Felderstein. “I know I’m going to play well when I’m out there. I’m at that point in my career where I’ve seen enough ball and I know myself that I can go out there and play as well as anybody in the game. The biggest strides this year are going to be my body and learning how to get through the season, get through practices with my body, feeling tip, top shape. And so that’s the main focus for the off-season.”

This has been a common theme for Burrow in interviews this offseason. He’s already revealed that he changed up his approach to training and he visibly added more muscle to his frame.

It only makes sense, too, after that non-contact calf injury last year derailed the season before things even got going. Then, the wrist injury later in the season just as the calf was finally getting right.

This theme is why when Burrow takes it easy for a day or two during training camp, it’s likely less a sign of a problem and more likely just being precautionary.
