A heat advisory and a severe thunderstorm warning were issued in the Greater Cincinnati area Monday afternoon.

Northeast Butler County, Northwest Warren County and Southwest Montgomery County are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4 p.m., the weather service said. The storm is moving east into the area from Middletown with gusts up to 60 MPH.

Heat index values around 100 degrees are expected in Southeast Indiana, Northern Kentucky, and Southwest Ohio, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory is predicted to expire at 8 p.m.

Thunderstorms and high temperatures are predicted for Cincinnati through Wednesday night.

    How's the air quality?

While the rain may improve the air quality, the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency is reporting very high weed and shrub allergens in the air along with high grass and mold allergens on Monday.

The overall particulate air quality is moderate in Cincinnati Monday, the agency reported.
