Four Cincinnati natives are far from home this month as they compete in the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Olympics kicked Friday with a torch-lighting ceremony and performances commemorating French and Parisian culture. Among the 592 athletes on the U.S. Olympic team are four locals: Rose Lavelle, Nina Castagna, Carson Foster and Max Holt.

Now, these four Cincinnatians are joining the ranks with hundreds of other world-class athletes to bring glory to the USA – and maybe snag a medal or two for the Queen City.

Here's when the four athletes compete.

    Rose Lavelle, women's soccer

Mount Notre Dame High School alum and Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle is competing in her second Olympics this year. The 29-year-old and her team brought home a bronze medal during the 2021 games in Tokyo. She scored one goal in the last Olympics, and is one of eight returning players from the Tokyo squad.

Lavelle was in the starting lineup for the U.S. Women's National Team's 3-0 win against Zambia on Thursday. She was subbed off at halftime for Korbin Albert.

Lavelle and the women's team will take the field again at 3 p.m. Sunday to play Germany and then face off against Australia at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

    Nina Castagna, women's rowing

Cincinnati native Nina Castagna , a Walnut Hills High School and University of Washington grad, earned a gold for the U.S. in every Olympics from 2004 to 2016 for women's rowing. This year, she is participating as the coxswain for the women's coxed eight.

Women's eights heat qualifiers will take place at 6 a.m. Monday.

Carson Foster, men's swimming and diving

Carson Foster is a product of Sycamore High School and the Mason Manta Rays swim club. The University of Texas alum will be competing in the 200-meter individual medley (IM) and the 400-meter IM. Those events earned him several silver and gold medals in world championship settings since 2021.

    Max Holt, men's volleyball

Max Holt , who played for Purcell Marian High School and Penn State volleyball, was an alternate in the 2012 London-Olympics and was on the active roster for 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and 2021 in Tokyo. The 6-foot-10 middle blocker and Team USA won a bronze medal in Rio.

USA men's volleyball will compete against Germany at 7 a.m. Tuesday in the preliminary round.
