Calls to 911 within the City of Cincinnati may not have gone through for a time Thursday afternoon, because the dispatch center experienced a telephone outage, according to a social media post from Cincinnati Emergency Communications.

The social media post reporting the outage was made around 12:50 p.m. Thursday. Roughly 20 minutes later, at 1:09 p.m., the center said 911 calls were coming through again, but the issue that caused the outage is still being diagnosed.

Anyone who experiencing an emergency in the city who was not be able to get through by dialing 911 could instead call 513.765.1212, the social media post says.

"Do NOT make test calls," reads the social media post.

The number should only be used to reach police, fire or medical services in an emergency, the communications center said.

Calls to 311 were not impacted, the post says.
