Maybe it’s a return to the days of “must see TV” on Thursday for viewers to tune into the Presidential election debate — a historical rematch that pits President Joe Biden and against former President Donald Trump.

Debate starts at 9 p.m. at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, Georgia, a critical battleground state.

The Pickaway County Republican Party will hold a Presidential election debate watch party that is open to all Republicans starting at 8:30 p.m. at Gibby’s Eatery and Sports Bar, 126 W Main St, Circleville.

Though tuned into the debate, the Pickaway County Democratic Party has not announced a debate party.

After the debate, the Herald will interview leading local Republicans and Democrats for their perspective for the hits, misses, zingers, who won and who looked the most presidential.

Anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash would moderate the debate, CNN said.

“To ensure candidates may maximize the time allotted in the debate, no audience will be present,” CNN said in a statement.

The first debate will play out in a jam-packed and unsettled political calendar, before either candidate becomes his party’s official nominee at the summer conventions — scheduled to begin July 15 for Republicans and Aug. 19 for Democrats.

Presumed GOP candidate Trump and presumed Democratic candidate Biden agreed to two debates. The second debate will take place on Sept. 10 and will be hosted by ABC.

Last note, there will be a ribbon cutting July 11 for the Pickaway County Democratic party’s new headquarters at 212 South Court Street, Circleville. There will be cookout and celebration between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Also, Ashville Fourth of July Parade needs GOP walkers to participate in the parade. Parade line-up begins at 10 a.m. with the parade to start at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4 at the corner of Plum & Park Streets.
