St. Rita Campers’ Fire Safety Adventure at Sierra Madre Fire Department
Camp Raider at St. Rita School took a scenic walk through Sierra Madre to visit our friends at the Sierra Madre Fire Department! The campers were eager to ask questions and learned a lot about fire safety and emergency procedures. They also had a blast exploring the fire truck! Encino home targeted twice by burglars in one week
Residents are on edge in an Encino neighborhood after a multi-million dollar home has been broken into twice in one week.Authorities responded around 10:30 p.m. on Monday to a home in the 4900 block of Edgerton Avenue near Moorpark Street for a burglary, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.It appeared that two men broke into the home, but it is unknown if they took anything, police said.The home was first targeted on Thursday, July 11, when two children and their babysitter were home when three people smashed a sliding door around midnight.No injuries were reported for either of the break-ins.The suspects identities remain unknown, and it is unclear if the same people are responsible for both burglaries.Authorities continue to search for the suspects and ask anyone with more information to contact them.The investigation is ongoing at this time.

LA Italian Hot Spot Jon & Vinny’s Is Expanding to the Valley
The Tolucan Times reports that Jon & Vinny’s, a popular Italian restaurant with three other locations across Los Angeles, is expanding to the Valley. The publication’s Instagram account posted a photo of Jon & Vinny’s signage up at its new location along Moorkpark Boulevard on the corner where Studio City meets North Hollywood. Jon & Vinny’s hasn’t posted anything about the expansion, but its Instagram account commented on the Tolucan Times post with a “shush” emoji. An opening date hasn’t been announced, but there are two liquor license requests for the new location on file that are still being processed. Expect a similar menu to other locations with dishes like marinara braised meatballs, rigatoni with broccolini, and Anson Mills polenta.

Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Downtown Los Angeles
A pedestrian in his 50s was struck and killed Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles and police are searching for the vehicle that struck him and drove away. Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to Fourth Street near Wall Street at around 3:30 a.m. where they learned the victim was walking in the street near Wall when the vehicle turned left on Fourth and fatally struck him, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman told City News Service.
