CenterPoint Energy is being sued after Galveston man is electrocuted to death

GALVESTON COUNTY, TX - According to court documents that were filed on Thursday in Harris County District Court, a new lawsuit alleges that the negligence of CenterPoint Energy, Inc., CenterPoint Energy Service Company, LLC, and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC in managing and maintaining a high-voltage line resulted in the wrongful death of Elmer Meza-Ramirez during the "operation of landscaping".

The accident occurred in Galveston, TX on May 24, 2024.

The lawsuit claims that the defendants failed to properly supervise and ensure the safety of the worksite, leading to the fatal injuries.

The lawsuit seeks over $1,000,000 in damages.
