Stepson Charged with Murder in Death of Stepfather After Beating Him To Death

HOUSTON, Texas (June 16, 2024) - According to the Houston Police Department, charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man found at 4118 Sherwood Lane about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday.

The suspect, Ricky Ray Allen, 48, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. The identity of the victim, 72, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division reported that officers responded to an apartment complex at the above address on reports of a male being assaulted. The officers found a man unresponsive in his apartment, having suffered blunt force trauma, and he was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

The victim's stepson, Ricky Allen, confessed to his role in the man's death. He was subsequently charged and taken to the Harris County Jail.
