The suspect then produced a weapon, although it is unclear whether he discharged it. Four officers fired at the suspect, who fled into a wooded area. He was later located by HPD’s helicopter units using night vision. The man had a gunshot wound to his upper torso and was found with a pistol in his waistband.

Officers administered life-saving care, and the suspect was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition. There were multiple 911 calls from witnesses reporting the man waving a handgun, with one report suggesting the suspect may have fired near a residence.

The case remains under investigation, with body camera footage being reviewed to determine whether the suspect pointed his weapon at the officers.
