The success of many restaurants can sometimes be judged by the years they've been operating. Hodak's Restaurant & Bar was founded in 1962, by Tony Hodak, so it has some history under its frying pan. However, it didn't start as a restaurant, it began as a bar.

Hodak's is a St. Louis tradition. My family has been coming here since they opened in 1962. We've shared so many memories and meals here as a family...
I think what gives a restaurant like Hodaks such staying power in St. Louis is consistency. The chicken plate has been exactly the same from when I was a kid. A plate of hot crispy juicy chicken piled on top of crinkled cut fries and vinegar and oil slaw has been my go-to meal for years. (Yelp reviewer.)

It's wonderful to see generations of a family continue to visit a restaurant that's become a tradition like Hodak's. Hodak's son, also named Tony, along with his daughters ran the restaurant until it was handed over to Charlene and Ralph Hegel in 1989.

In August 2024, Taste of Home published The Best Fried Chicken in Every State and Hodak's was listed as having the best fried chicken recipe in Missouri. The chicken is fresh and prepared with a secret recipe.

Hodak's is located at 2100 Gravois Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri. It's open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visit here for the main menu.

    Thanks for reading and sharing.

Straight trash. STL people think restraunts are so good only bc they are a "staple". Most of STL staples are garbage.
